The Detroit Public Theatre is a nationally-recognized regional theatre proudly based in Detroit. They have developed their reputation despite lacking a permanent theatre space. LSTN worked with Dash Marshall to remedy this.
The facility (a black box theatre, lobby, bar, and support spaces) celebrates the existing rough industrial shell while creating a refined patron experience and advanced technical accommodations.
LSTN provided acoustics and audiovisual consulting services for the project. In the black box, the room acoustics design prioritizes control and clarity for spoken word and amplified music. Careful detailing of the transom glazing to the lobby and back of house was employed to reduce noise break-in to the black box. The audiovisual systems focus on flexibility, allowing the loose AV equipment to be endlessly reconfigured based on the needs of each production.
