Social Works Studio contributed the Interacting Fences sculpture to Sculpture by the Sea, Australia’s largest annual outdoor sculpture exhibition, in 2020. Interacting Fences was developed as two 10m aluminum fences comprised of the ubiquitous and exploitational corrugated aluminum materials common in Australia.
LSTN collaborated with Social Works to shape the two fences to focus sound between people seated opposite each other, facilitating easy and eerie conversation over long distances. The effect is to emphasize smallness in a growing world.
The project was awarded the the new Sculpture by the Sea Artist Award and has been sold.
